The amino acid composition of 14 different feed ingredients used in a local feed mill were determined on replicate samples drawn from the mill at intervals over a period of 18months. For each ingredient the mean and standard error of each amino acid is presented and also, as a means of assessing the balance of amino acids, each is presented as a percentage of the requirements of broilers up to 3 weeks of age. Poultry by-product meal and lucerne proved to be the most variable ingredients and in general, cystine, methionine and tyrosine varied more than the other amino acids.
