AAs Agriculture evolves, animal science stands at the center of innovation, collaboration, and sustainable development. The 2026 Congress theme, “Gearing Up: Animal Science and Beyond,” reflects the dynamic interconnections between animal science and the broader agricultural landscape. Like gears in a complex system, animal scientists drive progress through advances in nutrition, genetics, reproduction, physiology, health, and product science – each cog turning in harmony with others across the agricultural value chain.

The 55th Annual SASAS Congress was held from 8 – 10 July 2025 at the Protea Hotel, The Ranch, Polokwane . The 2025 congress was hosted by the Universities of Limpopo and Venda and the Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Main Theme: Thriving in Diverse Environments: Optimized Innovations and Resilience in Animal Production

SASAS Congress 2023 – There was no SASAS congress in 2023, but SASAS co-hosted the All Africa Conference on Animal Agriculture for the first time from 26 to 28 September in Gaborone, Botswana. Congress theme: “Sustainable African Animal Agriculture : Challenges and future prospects”
